MORE
Textile Display Area
This area introduces the clothes, textile culture, patterns, and accessories of each tribe of indigenous people. Among all, the Paiwan bridal headdress, made of the feathers of mountain hawk eagles, is a precious artefact that was difficult to attain.
MORE
“Three Treasures” Display Area
This area introduces Paiwan people’s three most cherished treasures: clay pots, glass beads, and bronze knives. These artefacts usually only belong to the nobility and chiefs. The rarity of these artefacts has led to their precious status.
MORE
Purlin Display Area
This area holds the most and best-preserved Paiwan and Rukai purlins. They are also the most significant collections of the museum. Each purlin represents a house.
MORE
Tao Display Area
This area holds a wide variety of special Tao artefacts, representing the differences between mountain culture and sea culture.
MORE
Sculpture Display Area
This area contains Paiwan ancestral stone poles, carved wood artefacts, and purlins, demonstrating Paiwan people’s excellent sculpture techniques and craftsmanship.
MORE
House Display Area
With miniature architecture models, this area shows the characteristics of houses belonging to different indigenous peoples and their relationships with the environment.
MORE
Bamboo Weaving Display Area
This area holds the bamboo tools for farming and fishing made in ancient times, displaying the craftsmanship and wisdom of the indigenous ancestors. Some of the features and brilliance of the tools are still stunning from today’s perspective.
MORE
Musical Instrument Display Area
This area replicates the traditional musical instruments that are common among all indigenous peoples or unique to a specific tribe, including plucked string instruments, percussion instruments, and wind instruments. A lot of these are applications of daily artefacts.
MORE
Wooden Boat Display Area
This area mainly displays Thao’s canoes and Lanyu Tao’s fishing boats, providing authentic artefacts on display with explanations.
MORE
Clay Pot Display Area
The glass display cabinets show the clay pots belonging to Amis, Tao, Paiwan, and Rukai; the clay urns of plains indigenous peoples are also included.
